The Ovum stands as the principal seat of The Government on The Mainland, an egg-shaped structure rising sixteen floors above its manicured grounds. Its ground level is split between a restricted, employee-only entrance leading into The Ovum’s reception, and a public-facing entrance that opens directly into The Ovum Hall on the opposite side. The Ovum hall hosts key civic ceremonies, including The Maturity Ball, New-Parent Brunches, and commiseration dinners held on birth group death days. These singular events are the only occasions during which non-Government Korainians are permitted entry.
The Ovum is meticulously organised by rank. The first and second floors house The Ovum Hall and Auditorium, while successive levels serve as operational bases for the eight governmental ranks. Other floors serve varied governmental functions, culminating at the sixteenth floor where the Chief resides at the structure’s pinnacle. The seventh rank, led by the Elder of Commerce, Elder Gorton, is unique in that all its departments operate entirely within The Ovum, creating a dense and constant rhythm of administrative activity.
Though other institutions across Uji share the burden of governance (such as The Orientation Centre, the City Korai Housing Office, and the Mainland Dam and Water Plant), The Ovum remains its symbolic and functional centre. Of course, quiet rumours persist of secret sub-levels beneath its grandeur, though such claims remain unconfirmed.
The narrative heart of WOKU. An era with a plethora of stories and experiences, each exploring the Korainian world in unique ways.
