The lore behind The World of Korai Uj

Ever wanted a story to just... keep on going?

‍The World of Korai Uji is an ever-expanding world scenario; a fictional history, culture, society, and setting created to host stories, records, music, and interactive experiences.

The WOKU narrative universe takes place on the planet Korai Uji - a small ocean world whose inhabitants, Korainians, measure time in cycles rather than years. According to Korainian history, their ancestors once lived across an archipelago known as The Mother Isles, where different scales (Whitescales, Redscales, Blackscales) developed distinct cultures.

Over hundreds of cycles, natural disasters, and a migration to the rocky sloped island of Uji, those settlements evolved. The Mainland of Uji is a highly organised society shaped by a shared belief in The Universe and governed by The Chief and their Ranks. The Mainland has its own institutions, traditions, and laws unique to Mainlander life. Meanwhile, The Colony Outlands of Uji manage their own clan and tribal affairs.

Through tens of stories, records, music, and interactive experiences, you can explore Korai Uji from different perspectives and moments in time. Why? Because a world isn't made from a single story. It's made up of the lives, conflicts, and beliefs of the many individuals that inhabit it.

Being born a cycle ahead of the rest of the group doesn’t stop Teo from striking up a friendship with the tight-knit trio whilst in school; though once they all join him in adulthood, the dashing Redscale isn’t shy about his incentive for doing so. He’s got a clear plan, and he’s been waiting to put it into motion.

Teo Umi is a charismatic, indecipherable new-man who knows what he wants. Which, to the secret dismay of a few others, happens to be Nykia.
