The Clock Emporium is City Korai’s prestige clocksmithing institution, located within the Central Plaza amongst civic buildings and the plaza’s dining concourse. It represents the highest tier of clocksmithing on Uji.
The role of a clocksmith is considered a family trade across The Mainland, with multiple practitioners in every region maintaining the average Korainian's heirloom water clocks, pendulum clocks, gear-based mechanisms, and the rare wristwatch worn by a fortunate few. Despite being family-run practices, all clocksmiths are regulated by The Clocksmith Association, whose members across The Mainland convene each cycle to discuss standards and practices (as well as some non-official price fixing).
It is The Clocksmith Association that selects the few entrusted with Uji’s most valuable timepieces and exclusive clients on all of Uji; elevating them to the position of a Head Clocksmith at The Clock Emporium. Appointments are rare, often occurring once every eight cycles, and those chosen are considered to be peak representatives of the craft. These clocksmiths service the instruments of Elders, affluent Korainians, and key civic mechanisms — including the central water clock housed within The Orientation Centre.
Raymond Nykia is among those chosen few, promoted in the cycle 267 AL. Beyond its workshop function, The Clock Emporium is the symbolic seat of The Clocksmiths Association's power. To cross the threshold of its towering blue doors is to enter a singular space where time is handled with precision, discretion, and a level of care reserved only for the most trusted hands on Uji.
The narrative heart of WOKU. An era with a plethora of stories and experiences, each exploring the Korainian world in unique ways.
