Situated in the Upper Region, City Korai Academy is Uji’s most prestigious intermediate schooling institute. Nearly every City Korai child attends the Academy, alongside the majority of students from across the Upper Region. Those unable to secure a place commonly enrol at Mid Region Academy instead.

Admission is primarily determined through competitive examination, although the Academy also operates a Prodigy Programme for exceptionally gifted students and a Legacy Programme for the descendants of former attendees. Wealthier families are known to make substantial donations ahead of admissions, though the Academy maintains that financial contributions offer no formal guarantee of placement.

Ranked first on Uji for end-of-cycle results, the Academy offers rigorous scientific, mathematical and arts programmes alongside an extensive sporting curriculum. Diving, Handball, long-distance running and performative horse jumping are among its most celebrated activities. Around 90% of students who progress to The University are former City Korai Academy attendees, cementing its position as the principal route into Uji’s most influential professions and institutions.
