On the Era Before the First Chief (Prior to 100 BL)

In the earliest cycles of recorded existence, long before the blessed unification of Uji’s Mainland, Korainian-kind dwelt upon The Mother Isles; the Whitescales upon Mountu, the Redscales upon Sandya, and the Blackscales upon Volcanis. Each isle and its inhabitants lived under the stewardship of their respective tribal elders — though it is fair to note that not all stewardships were exercised with equal discipline or civilisation.

Yet The Mother Isles, as though cursed by The Universe itself, turned upon the unguided ancestors of all who now walk upon Uji. In the cycles surrounding 100 BL, profound tribulation befell the lands. The Blackscales of Volcanis, long accustomed to harsh climate yet ill-prepared for true adversity, endured unimaginable cold; the Redscales of Sandya were scourged by merciless heat; and the Whitescales of Mountu, despite their renowned resilience and governance, suffered grievous scarcity of harvests. As conditions decayed, famine and instability consumed The Mother Isles — until, at last, a great rainfall drowned the isles in a catastrophic flood.

Only those intuitively guided by the will of The Universe seized oars and braved the raging waters, abandoning devastation by sailboat. As oral tales recall, after countless eights adrift in tempestuous sea led by stars alone, a sloped sanctuary emerged from the watery abyss. That solemn refuge — Uji — became the destined homeland of all who survived the downfall of The Mother Isles.

With fervent hope for renewal, the surviving elders of Mountu, Sandya, and Volcanis convened upon the unfamiliar isle of Uji to unite what knowledge and labour could be coordinated. By mere circumstance of their familiarity with unrefined stone and volatile terrain, several Blackscale elders assumed stewardship over the earliest and most rudimentary structures of Ujian governance. Under this arrangement, the once-untamed stone of Uji reluctantly yielded, giving rise to The Colonies. Each colony tribe was guided independently, whilst disputes of genuine significance were entrusted to the combined wisdom of the ‘Tribe Tribunal’, comprised of elders from all tribes.

On the War for Uji (91 BL)

Despite these early triumphs of assimilation, unification proved fractious. Disputes regarding leadership within the Tribe Tribunal were numerous, while petty colony infighting gave rise to displacement and fracturing settlements. Discord hardened into hostility, hostility into confrontation, and confrontation into a blaze of open conflict. Thus commenced The War for Uji in 91 BL, an immense and unforgiving struggle spanning nineteen cycles. Though destructive in its toll, the war would ultimately be remembered as the necessary crucible through which enduring governance would be forged.

On the Reign of Chief Taka (72 BL – 40 BL)
With the conclusion of The Last Battle for Uji in 72 BL, the dust of war settled and a new chapter commenced. From the ashes rose Ino Taka, leader of a Whitescale settlement at the highest point of Uji — the future lands of City Korai. Taka was not merely a leader but a scientifics genius and once-in-a-generation peacekeeper; having abstained entirely from involvement in The War for Uji, instead guiding his settlement to provide food-stock and medicines to all colonies alike.

Nevertheless, the cycles that followed were not devoid of hardship. Ino Taka, soon known as Chief Taka, assumed leadership during the onset of the most harrowing crisis in collective Korainian memory — the first half of sixty cycles of mass infertility, remembered in solemn reverence in oral historical tales as The Barren Times.

Yet still, under Chief Taka’s guided governance — and the stabilising structure of his newly established Government and Ranks — order was enforced, hope was preserved, and Uji was safeguarded by wisdom, restraint, and alignment.

On the Reign of Chief Taka II (40 BL – 10 BL)

Chief Taka II inherited a dwindling population struggling through the latter half of The Barren Times; a most desperate epoch in which many Korainians abandoned long-honoured distinctions of lineage, resorting to reckless tribe consolidation — in some instances, even across colony borders. Such indiscriminate and unplanned intermingling, born of extinction panic, threatened the dignity of established tribal identities and risked eroding the very foundations upon which Ujian order had been cultivated.

Even so, Chief Taka II forged ahead with measured governance and unshakeable resolve. Their reign endured not merely as a continuation of authority, but as a critical fortification against total colony dissolution, ensuring stability and disciplined stewardship across what became known as ‘The Mainland Settlement’, while firmly reinforcing the rightful primacy and guiding sovereignty of The Government.

On the Reign of Chief Taka III (10 BL – 19 AL)

In the illustrious cycles of Chief Taka III — grandson of the First Chief Taka — Korainians bore witness to a miracle long awaited. Amid the lingering shadows of The Barren Times, Chief Taka III exhibited such wise leadership it earned him what scholars of the time undeniably recorded as ‘The Universe’s Favour’.

Within The Mainland Settlement, the first couples reported a marvel — a phenomenon of glowing hair. ‘The Glow Phenomenon’ invoked awe, reverence, and wonder across the populace. These revered pairings were gifted with extraordinary fertility, and in the cycles that followed, hundreds of new couplings emerged, heralding a magnificent birthing resurgence unprecedented since the earliest annals of existence.

On The Glow Phenomenon and The Soulmate Law (1 BL - 0 AL)

In the final cycles Before Law, the glow observed between destined pairs of Korainians became commonly recognised as a visible manifestation of Universe-ordained ‘Soulmates’. Soulmates were widely exalted as a sacred sign of hope for repopulation, delivered by the stars from above.

In its unfailing wisdom, The Mainland Government under Chief Taka III decreed the Glow Phenomenon as binding law across all governed lands on Day 1 of 0 AL, enshrining it eternally as The Soulmate Law — ensuring order, prosperity, and Universal alignment for countless cycles to come. This celestial revelation heralded the dawn of a new era for Korai Uji, consecrating the surviving populace upon the sloped isle as the destined inheritors of Korainian civilisation. Thus the once barren island was henceforth conquered, claimed, and formally named ‘Uji’ by the great Chief Taka III.
